FC TEAM A 3 HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A 0
FC Team A claimed their best-ever result in JC MSFL football after claiming a stunning 3-0 victory over defending champions Hendon at Meadow Park.
A double from Declan Selbo plus one from Richard Salmon saw them record a famous victory.
Delighted FC Team manager Mitch Young told JC Sport: "I am delighted with the result. It was so important after the disappointment of last week to get three points this week.
"The Team put in a great deal of work for this victory - we won all our individual battles all over the pitch, the midfield worked tirelessly, we were strong at the back and they could not handle us up front.
"We throughly deserved the victory and we could of scored more. Hendon are a great side but today was all about us.
"We have now beaten Faithfold and Hendon and kept clean sheets against them both. We are not in this league to make up numbers we want to challenge.
"We must make sure we back this up with another win next week.
"Overall we will remain level headed, work hard at training and focus on our next game."
Reflecting on the team's first league defeat, Hendon boss David Garbacz told JC Sport: "There are no excuses - we lost to the better team today. FC team were excellent from start to finish and gave us problems in the first half from their Rory Delap-style throw-ins and were marshalled by their big centre half and forwards.
"Whenever we did create decent chances we found a keeper in inspired form who had simply decided he wasn't going to get beaten.
"The game turned early in the second half when we pulverised them, but just could not score and then out of nowhere they took the lead. From them on we made errors and they were completely galvanised.
"Due to a number of injuries, we had no options on the bench, but the way things were running it probably would not have made much difference.
"Good luck to FC Team. They are a typical reason why the league will be really tight this year. Any team can beat any other team this year and I reckon the league will be won by a record low points.
"From our point of view we must react well - feel the pain of this defeat and bounce back with some proper manly Hendon performances."
