London FA Cup Round 3: FC Team A Sloan 0

After a bad defeat to Arsenal Deaf the following week, FC Team took the long trip to East Dulwich to face County side Sloan in the third round of the London FA Cup.

The team felt optimistic and that a new dawn had arrive and everyone in the camp was focussed and was relishing the test.

For the first time this season, player-manager Mitch Young was able to name the same back four and also for the first time this season he was able to pair his favoured strike partnership of Mitch Lassman and Allen-Curry together. Team set out in a 4-4-2 formation.

The pitch at South Bank Univeristy was top class and the Team were looking forward to kick off.

Straight from the kick off the Team boys were hounding down the opposition. Five minutes in, Young broke down the right and played the ball down the channel to Kieran Allen Curry who instantly turned his man brought it into the area and blasted the ball past the keeper to score his first goal for the club.

Ten minutes in Allen-Curry used great strength to hold the ball up before releasing his strike partner Lassman who coolly slotted the ball home to make it 2-0 to the team.

Team were totally dominated affairs. The midfield of Rich Sternberg and Adam Rones were stopping everything coming through to the backline and if it did James Korn and Kent shut the opposition out.

The third goal came again from the right hand side. Gideon Moss played the ball inside to Young who once again picked out Allen-Curry this time though he was surrounded by three men. He somehow managed to hold the ball up swivel and turn past all of them before a crisp finish into the bottom corner to make it 3-0 to Team.

30 minutes gone now and Team were really beginning to enjoy themselves with Kieran Allen Curry proving unstoppable. The next goal game when Jonny Breger from the left thread the through ball between the defence onto the on running Lassman who casusally slotted home to make it 4-0.

It was 5-0 before half time when Allen-Curry completed his hat trick. This time Korn took a free kick from the halfway line who found Young, he rose like Sir Lesley Ferdinand and nodded it down to Allen-Curry who turned and shot nicely into the corner.

5-0 at half time and Young had to make sure they focussed in the second half.

The second half no doubt Team took there foot off the gas as legs began to tire but none the less the workrate of Matt Whitehead, Rones and Sternberg was eveident.

Team created a fair few chances with Young, Lassman, Breger and Allen Curry all gulty of missing the net but none the less the game was well and truly over on the 80 minute mark when Young broke from midfield and threaded the ball to Lassman who was taken out by the goalkeeper. Lassman, on his hat-trick, took the penalty and slotted home.

Team won the game 6-0 and move forward to the last 16 of the competition.

Young said: "I'm delighted to get such a positive repsonse from the team after last week. This week has been brilliant. We have sorted many things out and I would like to thank our captain Paul Kent for all his work this week. There were some fantatstic individual performances today but it was really about the whole team today from goalkeeper to attackers we fought brilliantly.

"There is no doubt in my mind if we can keep our squad togther we can move forward in the league and the partnership of Allen Curry and Lassman will frighten the life out of defenders. All in all I am delighted but I believe there will be a lot tougher test to come.

"Next game is another Cup Game Jim Rogers Division One County Cup against Harrow St Mary's. I have to get the team focused but most importantly we have to imnprove our fitness and with the guidane of Peter Moss we aim to do this starting Thursday at the track."
