Another cross-country victory came courtesy of Hannah Viner, 22, who was representing Middlesex at the 6k Southern cross-country Inter-County championships in Oxford, where her  time of 22.27 was a season’s best at the distance.

After a long period away from competition through injury, Collette Hurley was back in action at the Lee Valley December Open, completing her first 300m race since 2015 in 53.46. The victory took her to third place in the UK V55 rankings.

At the same meeting, Maccabi London Harriers’ Jayden Klein, 14, lowered his 60m personal best to 8.70 and cleared a PB-equalling 1.85m in the high jump, while U13 athlete Mirit Berman, also of MLH, set a PB of 9.91 in the 60m and was just 5cm off her long jump PB with a leap of 2.71m.

Israel’s U23 men’s team put in a sterling performance at the European cross-country championships in Tilburg, Holland, to finish eighth out of 16 nations, ahead of powerhouses such as Sweden, Italy, Turkey and Portugal.
