Cup final joy for Biton

articlemain

Nir Biton admits he was surprised by his own powers of recovery after helping Celtic lift the Scottish League Cup.

Having helped the Bhoys win the SPL title in his first season, Biton, 23, passed a late fitness test before inspiring his team to a 2-0 victory over Dundee United.

The former FC Ashdod midfielder played for 82 minutes, but he said he was unsure about taking part until just before the kick-off.

Biton said: "You don’t want to miss any cup final in your life, especially
after the atmosphere that I felt at Hampden in the semi-final
against Rangers.

"If it was perhaps a league game, I may have given the injury more time.

"I trained for the first time the morning before the big match and I was a little bit afraid going into the final.

"But I'm just happy that I managed to get back and we managed to win.

"When it comes to a cup final, you know everything is about winning and you think of nothing else when you win. I’m happy we won, I'm happy we have the trophy."
