CHIGWELL ATHLETIC 8 WALDAF TOWN 6

Daniel Castle was the hat-trick hero as Chigwell Athletic moved into pole position to secure the runners-up spot with an 8-6 victory in an extraordinary contest against Waldaf Town.

Further strikes from Paul Lenchner (2), Steven Summers, Daniel Sugarman and an own goal cemented the points for Chigwell in Hatfield.

It was the second disappointment in a week for Waldaf following a cup final defeat last weekend; their replies came from Jeremy King, Robbie Weber, Lloyd Becker and Alex Bourne (3).

Chigwell can now only be pipped for second place if Scrabble Harmen beat Waldaf by at least seven clear goals in the final game on May 31, whilst a win for Waldaf would see them finish third.

Meanwhile, EDRS Stonegrove swept aside their rivals at the Maccabi Masters 5-A-Sides.

Ian Leader’s goal in the final earned EDRS a 1-1 draw against HMH, and they went on to win the trophy 2-1 after a penalty shoot-out.

And in the Plate Competition, EDRS overcame BS in the final, also winning 2-1 on penalties.

Goals from Boris Simons and Simon Shelley gave Faithfold Masters a 2-1 win over Temple Fortune in the MMFL/MSFL Invitation Cup.
