Abrams ready for Rovers return

Hyde Park Rovers boss David Domb has warned Haroldeans star Bobby Abrams to expect a red-hot reception from his former team-mates in Sunday’s showdown.

League leaders Haroldeans have won all eight league games this season with Abrams topping the MJSL goalscoring charts with ten to his name.

And after leaving Hyde Park last summer following the end of his studies at Leeds University, Abrams will once again come face to face with his old club.

“Bobby is a fantastic player and we’re not surprised he’s done so well,” said Domb.

“Some people thought we would miss him and we have to a degree but we’ve got so many excellent players and they’ve come in and replaced him.

“We know how he plays and we know everything about him but Haroldeans are about more than Bobby.

“They’ve got some great players with Josh Silverberg, Jamie Harris, Ali Goldsmith and Zach Goodman all guys that deserve respect.

“But we know that if we play to our potential and concentrate on our own game then we can win.

“They’re quite a physical team but we can be physical when we need to be and I’m certain we can go there and win the game.

“We’ve got players who love to put their foot in and tackle hard and they’re very good at it.

“But it’s all about what we do on Sunday and hopefully we can get the three points.”

James Hudaly and Jacob Nevitt both look set to feature for Hyde Park with the duo hoping to claim bragging rights over their former team-mates.

And Domb knows that his side cannot afford to slip up if they are to produce the comebacks of all comebacks and somehow overcome a 12-point deficit and lift the title.

“We’re not kidding ourselves and we know it will be difficult but we are not ready to give up yet,” he added.

“We know it’s a must win game and if we don’t win then the champagne really is on ice for Haroldeans.”
