Why?

Michael Gottlieb posted a blog on 30 August. An "anonymous" moderator has now closed comments for that blog. Yet two blogs opened that same day, by ibrows and clevenson, are still open for comments - as they should be, for many of us have not the opportunity to read blogs on here the very same day that they are posted.
Michael's beautifully written blog seems to have been closed to comments absurdly prematurely.
Of late, too many blogs have been closed to comments rather before what can reasonably be considered their natural expiry date. Sometimes blogs quickly degenerate into slanging matches, and I can understand their speedy closure, but it is surely counter-productive to close perfectly good blogs as quickly as is done to some.
I can remember a time when few people blogged on here. This new policy is likely to drive us all away.
