Benjamin Netanyahu now has his own wall and it has nothing to do with security.
The Prime Minister's Office Media Division announced yesterday that it has recently launched a new YouTube channel with videos in Hebrew and English, including the PM's speeches and trips. It has also begun updating the PMO Facebook, Twitter and Flickr accounts, as well as integrating them onto the general PMO website.
According to Netanyahu: "Today, social media channels are more vital than ever for Israel's public diplomacy efforts, for administrative transparency and for providing citizens with updated information.”
Sounds laudable, but thus far it must be said that PM’s tweets and facebook page are distinctly unexciting. The facebook page is maintained by Eliram Eitan - actually it’s Eitan Eliram but, somewhat bizarrely, his name is written in the common Israeli bureaucratic style of surname preceding forename. Hardly user friendly.
These media are to be used during the upcoming negotiations in Washington in order to pass along updates and current information, so if you think the pace of the talks is too dilatory, you can always poke Bibi.
