I find this jaw dropping:

The Conservative parliamentary candidate Elizabeth Truss has been told that
she will face a de-selection vote amid concerns over her affair with a Tory
MP.

Here's the gist: Liz Truss was selected as their PPC by South West Norfolk Conservative Association. It has since emerged that, years ago, she had an affair with a Tory MP. So members of the association now want to have her deselected.

I've never met Ms Truss, and know nothing of her other than her (outstanding) work as Deputy Director of Reform (on whose advisory council, just to be open, I sit). On that basis, I'm sure she'll be an oustanding addition to the Tory benches. But even if I thought she'd be an entirely average addition to the Commons, I'd have the same reaction: what on earth are these buffoons playing it?

Can someone please tell me what on earth once having had an affair has to do with her fitness to represent  South West Norfolk in the Commons?

This has nothing to do with condoning affairs; it has everything to do with the blinkered, idiotic outlook of the association's members. Is she supposed to have listed every sexual encounter she has ever had, for their approval?
