The new Iranian President, Hassan Rouhani, is apparently a moderate. Which simply goes to show that it depends from where you are starting.
On a theocratic extremist scale of 0-100, where Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei is a 99 and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was, say, a 98, then President-elect Rouhani might well be a 97. Or even a 96. Which would indeed, in a manner of speaking, make him a moderate.
