I Was Threatened By A Terrorist.

January 01, 2011 01:19

"We will show you English what the jihad is, we will be at London Bridge at eleven o'clock." The Terrorist Hotline Police were pretty good when I rung them. They took details and left me with advice to keep my mobile handy for my safety, which they said is what they do themselves. My facebook page was hacked to get my number, and has since been closed.

I had a similar scare last summer heading home on the bus from shul. "We're watching you people..." a fellow - he looked dark-skinned like I do - but didn't seem too friendly, had made his way to the side-door of the bus to accost me, so I said the first thing that came into my head: "There's plain clothes Police everywhere!" But I took a long detour home to be safe. I reported the incident to my local Police station and two Police visted me at home later in the week. A Polish-sounding woman and an English man both took notes. At the end of the meeting, the Policewoman asked, "Were you offended?" "No, scared." I said it twice because she seemed not to understand the fear-factor. The Police wrote to me three weeks later. There turned out not to be enough of a problem for an investigation. No jihad here then.

I love Israel, but then, most Jews do. Come Pesach, I want to be in Israel. I might even take up arms (at my age a feat!). I will continue to love the Lord with all my might. I will continue to point out to friends that in the way the UK has terrorists to worry about, so does Israel. I just hope that other Jewish Chronicle readers feel the same as I do and speak out too.
