First some background.
Arabs have been rioting as opposed to peacefully demonstrating nearly every Friday against the existence of Neve Tzuf -- located just 15 minutes from the central Israeli city of Modi'in -- for years, egged on by foreign anarchists and members of the Israeli extreme left anti-Israel B'Tselem organization (about which more later).
Nabi Saleh is home to some 530 residents according to the most recent census. Tamimi is the most prominent family in the village.
The village is also the location of the An Nabi Saleh Cultural Center, a blue-domed building complex associated with the shrine of the "prophet Saleh" (the Biblical Shelah, (Yehudah) Judah and Leah's third son). The complex, built in the 19th century during the Ottman period, underwent a massive $63,000 renovation in 2003, funded primarily by Sweden.
Located in the southwestern hills of Samaria (Shomron), in the Binyamin region, Neve Tzuf is built on the ruins of a Jewish village dating back to Talmudic times and today is home to approximately 250 families.
As far back as 2008, questions over the town's borders and issues over threats to its security have dogged the community.
In January 2010, some 200 PA Arabs, leftists and foreign anarchists rioted at Deir Nizam, also adjacent to Neve Tzuf, hurling rocks at IDF soldiers and Border Guard officers. Two security officers were wounded in the melee, including one who was hospitalized for a facial injury. Seven of the rioters were arrested, including three women.
This past summer, neighbouring Arab villagers set fire to buildings and vineyards belonging to the community's residents in continuing vandalism and protests.
Now to Phoney's supposed corroboration. The AP report says quote:
"said Sarit Michaeli of the Israeli rights group B'Tselem." and
Photographs taken by a pro-Palestinian activist from Israel, Haim Schwarczenberg, show Tamimi rushing after an armored military vehicle.
These say it all. B'tselem is NOT in any shape or fashion a rights group - it is an extreme left wing pro-Palestinian anti-Israel activist group whose sole purpose in life is to agitate against the State of Israel - if it is a rights group why does it not support the rights of Jews to live in peace in Israel? No wonder Phoney quotes it approvingly.
Every Friday it openly organises and instigates violent and illegal demonstrations solely for propaganda or for what it calls "PR" reasons. It ensures that photographers are always on hand to film the legitimate IDF response to violent and often life threatening provocation from rock throwing protestors.
This is nothing but a shameless exploitation of young Palestinians by a group who really have no interest in a peaceful solution and whose funding mainly comes from foreign governments. Its direct (62%) Government Funding comes from Switzerland; Denmark; EU; Netherlands; Norway; Spain; UK; joint funds from Denmark, Sweden, Netherlands, Switzerland. This is unacceptable meddling by foreign countries in the affairs of a sovereign state. One can well imagine the furore in the UK if it was found that the "Stop the War Coalition" was being funded mainly by Iran.
It's indirect Government funding comes from Netherlands (via ICCO; Oxfam Novib); Sweden (via Diakonia); Denmark (via Dan Church Aid); Ireland (via Tocaire); UK (via Christian Aid); Germany (via EED). A visit to the websites on any of these will show you how they dress up their anti-Israel agenda in human rights speak mumbo jumbo. For example ICCO classes Israeli Arabs as "Palestinians" and calls them as such.
As the report says:
A military spokeswoman said forces generally used canisters "to contain the violent and illegal riots that take place in Judea and Samaria," ... "Such means were used during the course of yesterday's riot in Nabi Saleh." The IDF is investigating whether the rules of engagement were adhered to when the cannister was fired but of course in Phoney's eyes if you are an Israeli soldier you are guilty until proved innocent.
As I said this guy was rushing after a military vehicle with something in his hand - his unfortunate and regrettable death is down to the rogues at B'tselem who encourage and promote rioting and who are funded by European governments who presumably believe that B'tselem is using the funding to better the lives of the Palestinians not getting them killed while rioting. Hopefully those Governments will reconsider their funding of B'tselem when they see what it uses their money for.
And a note to Phoney : All the AP report confirms is that violent illegal rioters sometimes get killed while attempting to attack Israeli army personnel or vehicles. You could save yourself time by reading my blogs before you post what I have already said.
