Armbach would have you believe that the Balfour Declaration did not give the Jewish people the right to a homeland in Palestine.

However his "treatise" is nothing but a farrago of disingenuity and plain nonsense.

To put him straight in 1917, Britain issued the Balfour Declaration:

His Majesty’s Government views with favor the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people, and will use their best endeavors to facilitate the achievement of this object, it being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-Jewish communities in Palestine or the rights and political status enjoyed by Jews in any other country.

The Mandate for Palestine included the Balfour Declaration. It specifically referred to “the historical connections of the Jewish people with Palestine” and to the moral validity of “reconstituting their National Home in that country.” The term “reconstituting” shows recognition of the fact that Palestine had been the Jews’ home. Furthermore, the British were instructed to “use their best endeavors to facilitate” Jewish immigration, to encourage settlement on the land and to “secure” the Jewish National Home. The word “Arab” does not appear in the Mandatory award.

Saying that a National Home does not mean a country is just plain disingenuous.

Far from awarding the mandate to Britain to do with it as it thought fit Britain which was awarded the mandate at the behest of the Jews over the French whose intentions the Jews had cause to suspect had defined tasks to carry out in the Holy land. That it did not adhere to its assigned undertaking has been the subject of many disputes not least the carving out of a substantial part of the mandate to Jordan as a sop by Churchill to the Hashemites when they lost Saudia to its present rulers after WWI.

The Mandate was formalized by the 52 governments at the League of Nations on July 24, 1922 and re-affirmed on the foundation of the United Nations after WWII. It was and always has been the home of the Jewish people it has never been the national home of any Arab nation or people let alone a "Palestinian" one since that term was only coined in 1964 on the founding by the arch-terrorist Arafat with the connivance of Nasser of the PLO which was formed solely for the purpose of pursuing the destruction of the State of Israel within its pre-1967 "borders" and which in its founding charter denied it had any rights over Judea and Samaria which at that time were illegally occupied and annexed by Jordan.
