Are you a world leader by default?

February 27, 2010 19:37

Since the recent announcements by the Dubai police with regard to the killing of the Hamas terrorist, I have noticed that virtually no political leader, outside of Israel, has had the courage or wisdom to publicly support his early demise. On the contrary, for a whole host of reasons, politicians have condemned the killing. They have certainly not stated that a dangerous terrorist had been removed and that we should be grateful to whoever were brave enough, either to kill him, or to assist in his assassination.

One has to conclude that there has been an appalling lack of world leadership. It seems that politicians today are bereft of the integrity and decency which should, of course, be the basis of political leadership. They can no longer distinguish right from wrong or good from bad. Evil, supported by the likes of President Ahmadinejad in Iran, seems to
pass them by.They are simply unable to recognize it.

Of course, we have been here before. In the 1930's there was also a dearth of leaders who had the decency and integrity to stand up to The Nazis and Adolf Hitler. If it wasn't for Winston Churchill, those of us who aren't Jewish, would probably still be currently living under The Third Reich.

So by default, I have become a world leader. And I have done so by publicly pointing out the appalling moral confusion that underlies the reaction to the death of a leading Hamas terrorist in a hotel room in Dubai. Of course, I am not the only citizen who has managed to do so. And those who have, are of course, also world leaders.

Are you?
