As I write, Britain’s Andy Murray and Israel’s Dudi Sela are still on course to meet in the Wimbledon final. The chances are they will both have lost by tea-time, but it’s worth savouring this very rare moment: the possibility of a tennis version of the Tebbit test. If both players do win their remaining matches, who will ex-Brits in Israel support in the final?
Since there is more likelihood of Israel signing peace treaties with all her neighbours by the end of today’s play than there is of Andy and Dudi meeting in Sunday’s final, I don’t think I need worry too much about answering to Avigdor Lieberman as to where my loyalties lie.
