TV doctor Ranjit Singh, best known as Dr Ranj, dropped in to Hertsmere Jewish Primary School in Radlett on Monday to launch its wellbeing/mental health week.
ITV’s This Morning regular joined Jewish mental health campaigner Jonny Benjamin at one of the special sessions devoted to the topic.
“They spoke to the children about what is mental health, why it is important to take care of ourselves in this way, how we can tell if we are struggling and who we can turn to for help,” said Rachel Isenberg, mental health lead at HJPS. “They emphasised that we are never alone and there is always someone willing to listen.”
Children understood that “taking care of our mental health is just as important as caring for our physical health,” she said.
The week was based around “the five ways to wellbeing, with each day’s activities related to a particular theme — connect, give, keep learning, be active and take notice”.
Activities included an art project using items from a nature walk, mindfulness and dodgeball tournaments, while parents could do pilates.
