Branching out for a digital Tu Bishvat

Schools had to adapt their plans to celebrate New Year for Trees

articlemain

Children at Sinai Primary in Kenton enjoyed a fruitful Tu Bishvat on Thursday even though most had do so from home.

The United Synagogue school offered a range of activities through its digital classroom including doing a tree pose in yoga, carving fruit, making collages out of seeds, origami tree-making and carrying out science experiments linked to plants.

Around a sixth of its pupils are still receiving education on site as vulnerable children or the children of critical workers.

As well as making fruit platters, they learned how to check whether fruits are kosher.

At Wohl Iflord Primary in Redbridge, children were encouraged to make fruit salad and bake fruit cakes to celebrate the festival.
