Hendon MP Matthew Offord praised the efforts of Mill Hill East Jewish Community and Mill Hill East Church towards interfaith dialogue after attending a fun day organised by the two.
More than 130 people attended the fun day, supported by the Jewish Volunteering Network (JVN), where activities included the creation of an interfaith mosaic — a tree of life — with the symbols of major faiths woven into its roots. Participants also planted fruit trees to symbolise growing understanding.
Mr Offord said he was delighted to support efforts “to engage in dialogue and build understanding across Mill Hill East. Today was a wonderful chance for local groups to create links and strengthen the wider community.”
Jewish community member Jamie Slavin said the two-year-old congregation was eager to build bridges with other faith groups. Future joint plans include a community garden.
