Ajex Military Museum archivist Martin Sugarman addressed a Liverpool Jewish History Society meeting on "The 1918 march of the Jewish Legion". He described the formation of the 38th and 39th Companies from Jewish members of the King's Fusiliers, who fought in Palestine during the First World War. The 40th Company of the Jewish Legion was formed by Jews in Palestine and elsewhere in the Middle East, who were also sent to fight in the conflicts in the area.

His lecture was illustrated by a short film of some of the soldiers and a recording of an early rendition of the 40th Company singing (in English) their battle song to the tune of what became The Hatikvah, plus several items such as badges now housed in the Military Museum.

The meeting was held on the King David School Campus, and attracted an audience of 30 of the society's members, and several visitors from the Merseyside branch of Ajex.
