Wizo and UJIA Women have taken a hands-on approach to fundraising for Israel with a joint fundraising scheme.
Launched this week with a henna party at the home of a Wizo executive member, the initiative will generate income for the two charities by supporters donating £10 to post images of people joining hands on social media.
Join Hands will run until International Women’s Day in March and acting Wizo UK CEO Maureen Fisher looks forward to “all sorts of pictures. Creative hands, hands that tell a story, generations linking hands, whatever inspires.”
Wizo will use the funds for its warm homes programme in Israel, supporting teenage girls from violent or other dysfunctional backgrounds.
UJIA Women will be raising funds for Al Sanabel, a catering social enterprise in the Negev which provides healthy meals for 3,000 schoolchildren from families living below the poverty line. Al Sanabel also assists unemployed single mothers.
