Youth overcomes experience as Brady B progress

PETER MORRISON TROPHY (SOUTHERN SECTION) ROUND ONE
MACCABI MASTERS XI 1 BRADY MACCABI B 3
In what was billed as a clash between experience and youth, it was the young pretenders, Brady B, who came out on top against the Masters today.

Brady came firing straight out the blocks, with Kane Alexander slotting home after some delightful play from captain James Joseph.

As the first half progressed, Brady truly took a hold of proceedings, with Jerome Colmans and Jason Davis in the centre of midfield dictating play.

Brady soon got the second that they merited, with Joseph poking home a Colmans free kick from the left at the back post.

However, Brady's inexperience and nerves began to show before the interval. Their play became sloppy, and the Masters, a constant threat from set pieces, pulled one back, with Nick Collins netting after finding himself unmarked after a free kick.

Buoyed by their goal, the Masters continued to apply strong pressure on the Brady backline, but centre backs Ollie Kay and Johnny Meltzer held strong.

A slight tactical adjustment saw winger Benjamin Hildebrand slot in at left back, with Joel Mogilner coming on at right wing as Brady sought more directness on the attack.

For all the Masters pressure, it was Brady who looked more likely to score, with superb link up play between Joseph and Reiss Mogilner resulting in Joseph hitting the crossbar.

Moments later, an attempted chip over the keeper by Reiss Mogilner cannoned off the post, keeping the Masters still within touching distance.

As the Masters piled forward looking for a leveller, Brady struck the knockout blow. Substitute Joel Mogilner played in his brother Reiss, who expertly rounded the keeper and tucked home.

For Brady, this was their sixth straight win of the season, as they continue to fire on all fronts.

Masters manager Dan Collins told JC Sport: "Brady are a good young team and will do well.

"They didn't let us play our usual game and gave us no time on the ball.

"I wish them luck for the rest of the season."
