Wimbledon doubles delight for Ram and Levine

Andy Ram and Jesse Levine kept alive Jewish hopes of silverware at Wimbledon in the first round of the men’s doubles.

Andy Ram and Julian Knowle, the 8th seeds, beat America’s Eric Butorac and Rajeev Ram 6-7, (3-7), 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.

Ram and Knowle take on Spain’s Marc Lopez and David Marrero on Court 19 at 1pm today.

Jesse Levine and compatriot Ryan Sweeting overcame Stephane Robert and Rogier Wassen 2-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2.

Levine and Sweeting take on Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecau on Court 8 at noon on Friday.

Dudi Sela and Michal Przysiezny are on court next. They take on John Isner and Sam Querrey.

Queen’s winner Jonathan Erlich and Dusan Vemic were beaten in straight sets by Martin Damm and Filip Polasek.

American Scott Lipsky and Benjamin Becker were ousted 6-4, 6-7 (5-7), 6-7 (4-7), 1-6 by Frantisek Cermak and Michal Mertinak.
