Wigan and Hapoel Tel Aviv in talks over De Ridder

articlemain

Wigan and Hapoel Tel Aviv are locked in talks aimed at resolving the future of Daniel De Ridder.

The 25-year-old winger is close to tying up a six-month loan deal although Wigan are also considering an offer from Celta Vigo.

Hapoel are looking to seal the move in time for the Dutchman to make his debut in the top of the table clash against Maccabi Haifa on Monday but last-minute haggling over the £180,000 loan fee Wigan are demanding has delayed the deal.

De Ridder, who holds an Israeli passport, said: “If I want to play this season, a move looks to be the right solution. I’d love to play for Hapoel although I still see my longer term future back in England.”

Sources in Israel have confirmed Hapoel are desperate to complete the deal in time to field him in Monday’s crucial clash with Maccabi Haifa

De Ridder has not featured in the Wigan team this season, since Roberto Martinez took over from Steve Bruce as manager Roni Porokara’s move to Maccabi Haifa collapsed due to salary demands.
