Two out of two for YMC

articlemain

The party lasted well into the night as after eight attempts, the Yagod Morris Cricket 'B' squad finally tasted victory, beating last year's runners-up, Pommeranz Juice Good Old Boys by 10 runs.

Pommeranz captain PJ Sahor won the toss and sent Joe Neppe's YMCB with the 'B's scoring 85. While the Pommeranz team have not had it all their own way this season, they would have have felt confident on chasing down the total and notching up a much needed win.

With 37 runs needed off the final seven overs, the game was still in the balance, but two wickets apiece for Sol Talkar and Adam Finkelstein ensured the 'B's first win of the season and player-manager Michael Morris's first win since 2010.

The Yagod Morris Cricket 'A' squad still have an outside chance of a top two finish as they beat the young Bet Shemesh Royals by 63 runs.

In another improved batting display, the Royals scored 70 runs with Eli Shaw again top scoring with 24 runs. Yonatan Karmi was the pick of the YMCA bowlers with three wickets. Brett Hickson's YMCA set out to not only chase down the score but score as many runs as possible to improve the all important net run rate with the Myers brothers, Aryeh and Benjy top scoring with a partnership of 47 out of a total of 133.

Pearl Dental Cricket Club looked to have cemented their place in the top six after comprehensively beating PJGOB by 61 runs. Some tight bowling by the PDCC bowlers restricted the PJGOB's to a total of 58 as captain David Wiseman, Danny Brill and Rael Olwyn shared two wickets apiece.

The match looked to be heading into a close contest as after the first four overs in the PDCC innings, they were on a paltry -1, but the PDCC players regrouped and formed some solid partnerships, with Rael Olwyn and Yoni Solomon top scoring with a 54 run partnership.

This week sees sixth place Gold Insurance Bet Shemesh Lightning and seventh place Modi'in Young Lions face each other in a match that will go along way in determining who qualifies for the playoffs. A win for either side will give them breathing space over the other team, but with both teams having to play two matches each after this game, the playoff places are along way from being decided.

Saturdays double header has leaders Dialogz Dragons up against eighth placed PJGOB's where the Dragons will be expected to increase their lead at the top of the table.

The YMCB's will be hoping to make it two in two as they play bottom place Bet Shemesh Royals. The Royals with no wins this season have targeted this game as a "must-win" match as they aim to finish the season on a high.
