Shahar Peer will work with Pete Sampras' old coach Elliot Telcher over the next month.
One of the most successful Jewish players, Telcher, 51, is a former world No. 5, who retired in 1982.
During the 1990s, Telcher coached the then world No. 1 Pete Sampras.
He will instruct Peer until after the US Open, when the pair will decide if the partnership is working.
Seeded six at the Bank of the West Classic in Stanford, California, Peer came from behind to beat Daniel Hantuchova of Slovakia in the first round.
The Israel Tennis Federation has banned vuvuzelas from the Nokia Arena in Tel Aviv for Israel's Davis Cup tie with Poland in September.
