Team GB run riot in final EMFT warm-up

Preparations remain on track for the defence of the European Maccabi Football Trophy after another comfortable victory, this time at the hands of Premiership opposition in the shape of London Maccabi Lions B at Rowley Lane.

Man-of-the-Match Nicky Woolf went one better than his four goals on Sunday with a five goal salvo, perfectly exploiting Lions high back-line in a 9-0 success.

Woolf's first goal came after two minutes after Joel Lassman won the ball out wide and played the in-form striker through to hit home from the tightest of angles.

Skipper Lewis Blitz made it 2-0 with a brave header before Woolf beat the offside trap for his second, and then hat-trick goal. His fourth came courtesy of a penalty on the stroke of half time to send Team GB in with a healthy five-goal lead.

Lions regrouped in the second half and came out eager to give a better showing of themselves. However, soon after the restart, the home side's keeper gave the ball away cheaply to Lassman for the full-back to roll the ball in from close range. Woolf then scored his final goal of the night for 7-0.

A speculative effort from Lions striker was expertly tipped over the bar by keeper Dan Lee - a fantastic save on an other quiet night for him.

Speaking after the game, Team GB assistant manager Jamie Slavin was delighted with the performance: "This was great preparation for the tournament which kicks off in three days time.

"Of course Nicky must be commended for the nine goals he's scored in two games, but the whole team's playing fantastic football and we can't wait to get out there.

"We know the Spanish and Germans will be tough to beat but confidence is sky high and there's still more to come!"

Team GB: Lee, Lassman, Stern, Tankel, Freed, Kay (Marks), Green, Blitz (Gotch), Posner, Bloom, Woolf
