YOUR WEEKEND PREVIEW STARTS HERE:

CYRIL ANEKSTEIN CUP ROUND ONE

BOCA JEWNIORS vs FC TEAM B
A home tie against Division Two rivals Hertswood Vale awaits the winner of Boca Jewniors and FC Team.

Neither Boca nor Team have had much to cheer about so far this season, but the Cyril Anekstein Cup brings with it much romance and the opportunity for one side to get their campaign up and running.

However, Boca are plagued by injuries but home fans can look forward to seeing new boys Joshua Ejdelbaum and Lee Benson making their debuts.

Ahead of kick-off, Boca’s Anton Nyman told JC Sport: “I’m hoping we can build from the more solid first half against Raiders last week and eradicate memories of the second half.

"Fitness should be a bit better at least and hopefully we can get that all important first win of the campaign under our belts and fire ourselves into the next round."

FC Team have lost three on the spin, but I have a feeling a different competition could bring out the best in them. They still have some big names and influential figures who can keep alive their hopes of a money-spinning tie in round three.

JC team news: Boca No. 1 Michael Sidloff has been ruled out while star winger Ben Retter is away for the weekend. Jonathan Winton, last week’s standout performer, faces a late fitness test.

TOP-SCORERS
5 - Liron Mannie (NL Raiders A), Zack Lewis (Hendon Utd SC A), Reiss Mogilner (Brady Maccabi)

HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB A vs CAMDEN PARK
Hendon will be looking to end the year in style as they look to extend their lead at the top against eighth-placed Camden Park.

There’s a positive vibe around the Hendon camp and having drafted in some talented youth over the summer, David Garbacz’s men look capable of achieving great things this season.

Zack Lewis has been bang in form and once Dovi Fehler stars firing again, they will take some stopping.

Garbacz told JC Sport: “The shofar will sound very sweet come Monday morning if we are able to bag another three points on Sunday which would then give us the perfect start from our first four games.

“We are playing well and with confidence and there is strong competition for places which always tends to bring out the best in everyone.

“We are also on a high after the long-awaited announcement of the engagement of Ari Nevies and assuming he hasn’t drunk himself silly over the weekend he should be fully motivated for a clean sheet.

The Reds have registered 14 goals in three matches so far and Garbacz is hopeful of more on Sunday.

“Camden are always tricky and on their day can give anyone problems but I am confident that we will carry on our good early season form and go into the festival season top of the pile,” he said.

Camden have had a tough start, with defeats against Lions and Oakwood, and manager Max Saunders must be contemplating tinkering with a formation that has only scored once in 180 minutes.

Saunders told JC Sport: “We have not had the best start to the season, although there are mitigating factors, we cannot keep making excuses for the fact that we have not got any points on the board after two games played.

“I have said to the squad that we have to put those losses behind us and focus on the games ahead.

“We have a lot of talent in our squad this season, and now is the time to prove it against a very strong Hendon team who have started the season very well.

“We expect a tough game, but a good footballing contest. If we play with the required levels of concentration and commitment, I see no reason why we can't register our first win. We are looking forward.”

Oakwood made light work of Camden last week and I can see Hendon doing more of the same.

JC team news: Hendon have a full squad to choose from although there will be late fitness tests for Greg Corin, Yehuda Korman and Rocky Spitzer.

Venue – Hadley FC, Ref – Andy Myerson, KO – 10am

JC star man: Dovi Fehler (Hendon)

DC Prediction: Hendon 4 Camden 1

BRADY MACCABI vs FC TEAM A
Mitch Young must have been having sleepless night about some of FC Team’s defending in their first two matches.

Fifteen goals have gone in at the wrong end and they will have to stop MGBSFL top-scorer Reiss Mogilner on Sunday.

But everyone knows Young loves a challenge and I can see him setting up his side to out-score Brady. Midfield maestro Lorian Madanes celebrated his birthday earlier in the week and much depends on how much ball he sees on Sunday, with Richard Salmon and Mike Pearson ever-willing runners.

Brady have adjusted well to life in the top-flight. Mogilner has already answered any doubters who questioned whether or not he had the ability to score in the top echelon of Jewish football.

Boss Josh Dagul believed his team deserved more than a point against Woodford last week but in the end they were grateful for another predatory finish from Mogilner to earn a point.

I don’t think there will be too much between the sides but am tipping home advantage to swing it.

Venue – Rowley Lane, Ref – Martin Fox, KO – 10am

DC Prediction: Brady 2 FC Team 1

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS A vs WOODFORD WANDERERS
It’s the battle of the champions at Fairlop as Raiders take on Woodford.

There was relief all round last Sunday when a Liron Mannie propelled Raiders got the monkey off their back against FC Team.

Boss Dan Shafron knows he wouldn’t hear the end of it if Woodford put one over him but he’s confident of his players stepping up on Matchday Four.

Shafron told JC Sport: “It was good to get that winning feeling back last weekend. The boys went about business with real professionalism and put in an excellent performance. Now it’s a case of pushing on and bettering ourselves week by week.

“Woodford will be a tough test. They are a group who have played together for several years and despite being a newly promoted club, we will treat them with the same respect as we treat any opposition and look to impose ourselves on them from minute one.

“Last week was a sign that we’re starting to get our flow back however we’ve been in first gear and there’s plenty more to come.

“I’m happy that we are now beginning to welcome back some more of our experienced faces and that will only help us get back to the levels we know we can play to.”

Woodford came away frustrated with only a point against Brady last week. Tom Alexander’s memorable goal put them in pole position but they were eventually unable to keep the north-west Londoners out.

However, with joint-manager Daryl Kaye reporting Woodford are "almost at bare bones for this one," it promises to be a testing morning.

Kaye was also keen to share some positive news with JC Sport: "Jerome Marks will be making his first team comeback after a cameo last week against Brady, and we have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to sign Woodford legend and lifelong friend, Jamie ‘Gypo’ Golding.

"Our start to the season has been positive and although we didn’t get the win we wanted last week, all the signs were there that once we have a full team available and can play our best 11, we should manage to consolidate our place in the Premier for next season.

"Raiders haven’t had the best start as we know, but they’ve scored 10 goals so we need to be sensible and professional with our approach. On the other hand they’ve conceded six, so know we they have a weakness and we’ll be looking to exploit that."

There’s a feeling the fact the match will be played on grass will prove something of a leveller but I’m backing Raiders to win by a couple of goals.

JC team news: Woodford will be missing up to five key players and regular starters this week, and there will be a late fitness test for centre back David Green.

Venue – Fairlop, Ref – Mark Jacob, KO – 10am

JC star man: David Cohen (NLR)

DC Prediction: Raiders 3 Woodford 1

REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE A vs MACCABI LONDON LIONS A
Joe Marsh described James Gershfield as the best Jewish striker last week after he fired them into the next round of the Herts County Cup.

Gersh’s heroics rescued Lions from a precarious position against Weston FC, with Dominic Cheniart chipping in with the other.

David Cohen, Richard Gold and Joey Lazare produced eye-catching displays as the team secured their third consecutive win of the season.

But Redbridge will pose a different threat altogether. Manager Jon Jacobs says “a warm East London welcome is assured” as RJC prepare to take on their illustrious hosts at their home venue for the first time.

Asked about his hopes for Sunday, Jacobs told JC Sport: “We have no idea which Lions will turn up - they have so many players to choose from and will always be strong opponents depending which Saturday player is available.

“I believe Sunday will be another big test for my boys with another tough game. The League is tighter than ever with at least five teams able to put together a run in the Premier Division which can only be good for the health of the League overall.”

Daniel Garfinkle goes into the game with a goal under his belt after scoring on duty for RJC C. He’s due a big performance in the Premier Division and his head to head with Gershfield will be worth the admission fee alone.

JC team news: RJC welcome Daryl Rubin into the squad for the first time this season and welcome back England Futsal star Russell Goldstein after a week off. Nathan Sollosi is unavailable due to illness.

BRIXTON OLD BOYS vs HENDON UNITED SPORTS CLUB B
Hendon fans hope it’s a case of third time lucky as they prepare for a trip to Brixton.

Defeats against Los Blancos and Redbridge have dampened early season optimism, but with their best two attacking options returning, they will be looking for easy pickings on Sunday.

“The team should be well rested due the postponement last week, so we will be expecting a very high-energy performance,” joint-manager Jono Nesbitt told JC Sport.

“The team is boosted up-front by the return of Adam Ellis and Gideon Barth who we will be looking at to get us some goals, so we can finally get our season started.

“We now finally have both our new home and away kit, and due to the postponement last week will be debuting the away kit this week.

“With a fresh new kit, and a relatively fresh new team we will be hoping to get a fresh start to our poor start this season and really push on from here.”
Brixton have played one, lost one and they looked tired towards the end of the 5-0 defeat against Lions.

I can see Hendon adopting counter-attacking tactics, with the pace and movement of Ellis giving Brixton nightmares.

FINCHLEY CITY FC vs ATHLETIC BILBAUM
Finchley lost their shoot-out against Scrabble last week, but there wasn’t too much to separate the teams.

Joel Holder’s troops gave a good account of themselves and will be determined to get back on the winning trail against lowly Bilbaum.

Finchley were excellent in the second half and Holder is challenging his players to turn on the style for the full 90 minutes.

Although it’s still very early days, it looks as though Bilbaum are not the team they were last season. But I don’t know of many teams who would play with the some kind of flair and fluidity after losing a player of the calibre of Josh Pugh.

It’s important they approach this game with no fear. Respecting your opponent is one thing, but playing with the handbrake on is another.

But when all is said and done, my money is on Finchley.

MACCABI LONDON LIONS B vs FAITHFOLD A
Lions remain unbeaten domestically but their hopes of success in non-Jewish football are over for another season following their defeat in the Hertfordshire Cup.

Elias Cohen (2) and Michael Kenley were the marksmen in a 4-3 defeat, and lessons have been learnt for Sam Marchant to take in Sunday’s meeting with Faithfold.

“Last weekend our cup tie did not go to plan and we now need to bounce back immediately with a positive result in the league.

“It’s our first home game of the season and playing at home is definitely a boost for the squad. Every game this season is a test and we need to always be at our best to make sure we can get a result.

“Last week in the cup this was not the case and the boys know that much more is expected of them if we are to be challenging for promotion come the business end of the season.

“The squad is very capable and we are a young group only in their second season together. There is lots of progress to be made but overall we have had a positive start to the league campaign and we hope to continue that on Sunday.”

Faithfold got a rude awakening against Raiders B last week. They were good going forward but managers Rob Shooman and John Nitka were shocked by the big holes at the back. This will need addressing immediately if they are to have a positive campaign.

The Lions didn’t lose many on their own patch last season and they will be determined to ensure Rowley Lane remains a fortress for a little while longer.

NORTH LONDON RAIDERS B vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE B
Tickets have sold out for the clash of the titans as early pace-setters Raiders B tackle Redbridge.

L’Orange made a real statement of intent against Faithfold last week, with Jake Gilbert and Alex Goodman bagging braces. But it was a memorable strike from stalwart Danny Bloom that had the fans kvelling at the final whistle.

Managers Jonny Adelman and Zack Gothelf expect a different test altogether in the shape of unbeaten RJC.

Adelman told JC Sport: “We’ve heard good things about this Redbridge side - we know they will be very strong and I’m sure they will be one of the sides battling for the top spot come May.

“We’re missing a lot of players this weekend – it’s the annual Rosh Hashana exodus north for our players who've married girls from Manchester and Leeds, but we have a deep squad and as we’ve said every week so far this season, our aim is to be competitive each Sunday and see where that gets us.”

Victories over Hendon and Oakwood have put Redbridge in a handy position to kick on. Six different players have featured on the scoresheet and Sam Rank’s total football approach is really paying dividends.

“Sunday is a big game for RJC B, Rank told JC Sport. “Both teams have 100 per cent records intact, so this will not be the case after the game.

“I can see Raiders have gone back to basics and got back a lot of the original team that challenge the title-winning Redbridge B side over the last few years. The side Raiders B had during those two years were very competitive and that was shown by both teams finishing 1st and second for two consecutive years.

“However, this RJC B side are extremely talented team and the commitment, passion and team ethic they have is just outstanding.

“Sunday will be a tough game, but with squad I have I am very confident we will keep our 100 per cent record, and also send another message to the league that we are the team to beat this year.

“I think Sunday game will be a cracker.”

This promises to be a real humdinger and it boils down to which team wins its individual and collective battles. It’s too close to call.

JC team news: Si Buchler, Antony Shaw and Josh Goldstein are available for NLR.

RJC B are missing Alex Chenroff (golf and scouting journeys), Craig Sandford (injury), Sam Moss (study leave) and David Fialka remains a still long-term absentee. However the famous Joe Jordan returns to the side along with star striker Dean Ben Yosef.

LOS BLANCOS vs SCRABBLE FC
Scrabble were excellent last week. First-half strikes from Josh Bharier and Danny Sherman guided them past a determined Finchley FC, but it was the manner of the performance that pleased manager Ray Abrahams the most.

There was an air of the Coutinho’s about Bharier’s opener as he ended a twinkle-toed run with a sublime finish.

They are now faced with two important league games sandwiched in between two cup ties and Abrahams is fully aware

They are now faced with two important league games sandwiched in between two cup ties and Abrahams is fully aware that there is a lot at stake over the next 90 minutes.

He told JC Sport: "We were pleased to get that first win last Sunday and will be looking to build on it away to Los Blancos. We are however expecting a tough game against a well-organised team.

"On a positive note we should have goalkeeper Ben Law back in goal this week for the first time this season and we also have new signing Rob Blackman in the squad after signing him from Lions.

"After dominating the first half last Sunday and dictating the game we switched off in the second half and we were lucky it didn't cost us.The boys now know that we have to be focused in every game and for 90 minutes as in this division there is no room for complacency."

Blancos made it two wins in three last week with a good, all-round team performance against Bilbaum. Manager Nick Grosse with delighted with how his players adapted to a poor surface - something that won't be an issue on Sunday.

Ahead of the Scrabble game, Grosse told JC Sport: "For many of us this is a grudge match with a few of the opposition having previously played for Los Blancos.

"The league has been raving about this legendary Scrabble team, but quite frankly, we are going to put them in their place.

"We have an extremely strong squad this week which will have the full 16-man compliment. We will be utilising the rolling subs system to our advantage and I expect my players to be fully committed from the first second."

I'm predicting goals on Sunday and a narrow Scrabble win.

CATFORD & BROMLEY MACCABI vs RCUK FC
Title rivals Catford and RCUK are ready to rumble in a contest that should be on Sky Box Office.

The Cats have made a sensational start, scoring 16 goals and conceding just once in victories over FC Team, Hertswood Vale and Mill Hills Dons. Player-manager Jeff Gotch has been leading by example, scoring in each one and he will be a key figure in Sunday’s contest.

Ahead of kick-off, he told JC Sport: “The feel-good-factor running though the camp is infectious and we will be looking to continue our good run against RCUK on Sunday.

“I don’t know much about them but as always we will concentrate on our game and if we play to our potential I expect another three points.

“Competition for places is rife and we have 20 players available this week and I have a headache; how can I tell five players they are not needed this week? I have to do what I have to do and will be making my decisions after training this week.

RCUK showed tremendous character to come back from the dead against Temple Fortune last week. Jonti Aremband and David Brown were the marksmen in a 2-2 draw in a game they trailed 2-0 with 15 minutes remaining.

Manager Avi Markiewicz told me his team is expected to be “pretty similar to last week” and they will travel to Catford with their tails up.

Markiewicz told JC Sport: “At the pub this week the whole team were in agreement that every single one us wasn’t good enough against Fortune and it was an opportunity lost but revelled in the last-minute equaliser.

“All the boys are desperate to put the wrongs of last week behind us and there is no better way of showing what we are really made of than on a decent size and surfaced pitch and against the league leaders.”

No doubt, this will be RCUK’s biggest test since joining the league. And it will be a great test of both teams’ credentials.

JC team news: Catford are only missing two players due to injury.

RCUK welcome back Avi Mocton after completing the Tough Mudder challenge and Josh Marlow is in line to make his debut.

REAL HENDON vs NORTH LONDON RAIDERS C
Raiders C warmed-up for the trip to Real with a 9-1 demolition of Boca.

Alex Sher and Liam Stein helped themselves to hat-tricks in a one-sided contest.

But Sam Rose and David Domb won’t allow complacency to creep in ahead of a real banana skin of a match (no pun intended).

Domb told JC Sport: “Last week was needed for everyone involved. Three Raiders wins and a glowing report from all 11 players that played their part.

“Hopefully that's serving as a confidence boost, and we can kick on from there and start the season.

“Both our games last season with Real Hendon were a battle. We were really made to work for the points on both of those occasions. They'll be looking to get points on the board, but we need to build on last week.”

Real have made a poor start and manager Chaim Gothold is looking for a big reaction against NLR on Sunday.

They have scored just once in two goals and must consider being a little more direct against a NLR team who are faster over the ground.

Gothold told JC Sport: “We have a decent squad this week and I’m expecting to get something out of the game.”

I think Real will huff and puff but NLR will do enough to take maximum points.

JC team news: Nick Haringman returns after missing the last two weeks, while Ricky Zeiderman is also in the Matchday squad. David Domb faces a late fitness test.

FAITHFOLD B vs MILL HILL DONS
Mill Hill Dons have dusted themselves down following the mauling by Catford and boss Brandon Hamme insists they are ready to go again.

The Cats were superior in all departments but the Dons must wipe the slate clean and get back to doing what they are good at against Faithfold on Sunday.

Ahead of kick-off, Hamme told JC Sport; "We hope to get back to winning ways and make sure last week was just a blip in our season."

Faithfold have conceded 13 goals in three games but they are not the kind of team to shut up shop. They always try to play football the right way and I expect them to play their part in an entertaining contest in Edgware.

JC team news: The Dons have a big squad to choose from following the arrival of five new players this week. They will be joined by Harry Moss who has made his return from injury. Joel Sinclair-Horne and Adam Isaacs will likely make their debuts, alongside the five new signings - Tommy Lennard, Harry Cohen, Harry Kalms, Richard Reback and Jonathan Sultan. Jono Gaon, Zach Perez and Lewis Silver remain out injured.

L’EQUIPE vs HERTSWOOD VALE
L'Equipe have won first two games so their confidence will be sky high. They have also rattled in eight goals in the process and I'm expecting a few more on Sunday.

Andy Smith will be looking to maintain his goal-a-game record, while Max Martin is 8-1 to score a second consecutive hat-trick.

Boss Nick Stern must've been flattered to have been linked with the England job following Big Sam's shock departure, but he signed a new contract recently and is building something special at L'Equipe.

Ahead of the visit of Hertswood, Stern told JC Sport; "Things are looking good in the L'Equipe camp this week, with confidence riding high after two big wins to start off the new season.

"However, we will not be resting on our laurels as we know that Hertswood will be a big test for us. We go week to week hoping to carry over momentum from the previous week and aiming to put in 100 per cent effort every Sunday morning no matter the opponent.

"I know that my squad is good enough to compete with anyone in the league but it is all about turning up on a Sunday morning with the right attitude and ready to give everything for the orange shirt as that will no doubt lead to victories.

"This Sunday is a special day for us as we will be playing at our new stadium. We turned West Hendon into a bit of a fortress over the past nine years and we hope that the new ground with improved facilities for both he home and away team will raise our game even further. The fact that we won’t even have to put nets up brings joy to my whole squad!

"I am missing a couple of key regulars in the shape of Mark Korn and James Bell but welcome back our two leaders - Mark Singer and Dave Prager - along with James Mendel back into the fold which leaves me with some selection headaches for what is a huge game.

"I have a great squad this season and will be sure to have the best 14 available to ensure we make it three wins in a row."

Hertswood were thumped 4-1 by Catford a fortnight ago and the signs look ominous against for Sunday. There will be a real party feel at L'Equipe's new home and I'm predicting Stern's boys to deliver a special performance.

TEMPLE FORTUNE vs REDBRIDGE JEWISH CARE C
Josh Hambling thanked JC Sport for helping with his pre-match preparations during his press conference ahead of Sunday's mouth-watering trip to Temple Fortune.

He's spent a large chunk of the week watching the video of the RCUK match and his players know exactly what is expected when they make the long trek to Pinner.

A 4-2 win over Faithfold earned RJC their second success last week and Hambling is confident of a win treble. He told JC Sport: "I've got a fully fit squad this week so selection is going to be tricky.

"It's hard to change a team when you haven't lost so in some ways it benefits us as the players that come in know they have to work extra hard to make that position their own!

"We know Temple won't be the same team I've faced down the years as clearly they've strengthened. Thankfully getting all of that top notch video footage has shown a few things that we think we can exploit.

"The lads put a great shift in at training this week and I promise you they're buzzing to get out there. We have a great mix of youth and experience in this squad which is getting stronger as each game progresses.

"I've promised Ben Oldstein if scores a hat-trick on Sunday then Sam Rank will treat him to 10 bottles of champers for his 18th birthday! To be honest a 1-0 win would also do but we'll be going to Pinner expecting maximum points."

Fortune boss Simon Linden was disappointed his team failed to hold on to a 2-0 advantage against RCUK last week. Zach Rich continued his excellent start to the season with two deadly finishes, but they were unable to hold on, conceding twice in the final 15 minutes.

And Linden isn't expecting things to be any easier on Matchday Four. "Redbridge will be a tough game," he told JC Sport, "they have started really well.

"I'm pleased to have several players back in the squad for this one. We have to be confident that we can go and get a result to keep the unbeaten run going. Confidence is high in the group which is great."

Back-to-back 2-2 draws will do nothing for Linden's blood pressure but that's how I think it will finish.
