Two Jewish players have helped Stanmore reach the national club Twenty20 finals.

Captained by Marc Reingold, the ECB Middlesex County Premier League club beat favourites Bromley in the semi-finals before overcoming Ashford in a thrilling regional final at the St Lawrence Ground, Canterbury. They also took the scalps of Middlesex League rivals Finchley and Ealing in the preliminary stages with Reingold receiving the South East Counties Cup and a cheque for £6,500.

Stanmore move on to the Swalec ground in Cardiff on Sunday for the national finals which are being broadcast live on Sky Sports.

They will face St Just of Cornwall with the winners rewarded with a trip to Antigua to watch the multi-million pound Stanford Trophy and play in a Rumsey Pro-Am tournament in Barbados.

Reingold, who opens the bowling with left-arm spin, and Team GB Maccabiah player Richard Black, 19, are relishing the prospect.

Black said: "I'm looking forward to the finals and, if selected, being on TV. It's been hard work getting there but very exciting at the same time as we've proved a lot of people wrong. We are confident of doing well."
