Sloppy Vale frustrated by 10-man Village

articlemain

London Maccabi Vale's Chess Valley League hopes were dealt a blow as they went down in a thriller against Mill Hill Village.

Openers Danny Caro and Mark Landau put on 50 in good time for the first wicket, but their efforts were undone by some poor shot selection amid a flurry of wickets.

Adam Solomons and captain Neil Lederman hit 35 apiece as LMV edged past 200 from 45 overs, with Russell Corin and Andrew Greenwall-Cohen adding some quickfire runs at the death.

LMV's bowlers toiled on a drying wicket, with Benjamin Lederman and Greenwall Cohen going for 100 runs between them from their 10-over spells. Neil Lederman (1-31) produced the most economical figures against a 10-man Village team.

An improved performance after the drinks break saw youngster Alex Cohen pick up three wickets. Benjamin Lederman set up a grandstand finish with two more, but Village's last-wicket pair held firm to condemn LMV to their second league defeat.
