Season 2012/13 preview: Los Blancos

articlemain

Promotion is aim goal for Blancos this season. Manager Joel Minsky speaks about that and much more in a candid interview with Danny Caro.

Competitions entered: MSFL Division 2 and CA Cup

Hopes for the season: To mount a sustained promotion challenge. For the last two seasons we've started strong but have faded spectacularly in the new year

Which team/s in your division do you think pose the biggest threat? Too hard to call. The teams we were in Division 3 with last year are all of very similar quality, and I'm sure the mid table teams from last year's Division Two are of a similar standard if not stronger. We were given a very tough time last season by SPEC in the CA Cup, so I expect them as well as the other teams coming up from Division 4 to be pushing hard too. Basically, I haven't a clue! Which points to an exciting season ahead.

New signings. Is your squad complete or are you still looking to strengthen? As numbers dwindled alongside our promotion push towards the end of last season we've spent the summer looking to add both strength and depth to the squad. Thus far we've signed up Ben Annis (Manchester Maccabi 1st) Josh Gaon (Norstar B) Doron Marks (Southgate Harmen) Adam Waters (Zenit St Whetsone) with a fair few signatures on the way before the season starts.

Captain: Last year's top goal-scorer Joel Kutner has taken the armband, with last year's skipper Adam Hersh taking over as player/manager.

Ones to watch and why? Adam Waters - often called the Jewish Messi has joined full time from Barnet League's very own Zenit St Whetstone, after a single appearance for us in each of our last two seasons. With the Middlesex County Cup already on his mantlepiece, the left winger has said he'd happily trade it in for a Division 2 winners medal. Adam's arrival frees up the club's all time top goalscorer Adam Hersh to move up top alongside partner in crime Joel Kutner.

Home ground: After two seasons at South Oxhey, we're moving a little closer to home to West Hendon PF.
