Roger Bruck takes gold in Indoor Pentathlon

articlemain

Roger Bruck took gold in the British Masters Indoor Pentathlon Championships at Picketts Lock.

Competing in the first major Indoor Athletics meeting of the season, Bruck, representing the Southern Counties, came first in the seven-hour competition with a score of just under 3,000 points.

Following a reasonable start in the 60 metres hurdles, he put in a disappointing long jump, an event where he has won the British Masters title on three occasions. A much-improved performance in the shot put, was followed by a personal best in the high jump.

As is the case in multi-event competition, the final discipline is the longest race, the 1,000m. Bruck completed the distance and was rewarded with the gold after finishing five laps of the track.
