Peer nearing top 10

articlemain

Shahar Peer has moved up to a career high ranking of 11 after reaching the third round of the Australian Open.

Peer, 23, would have entered the top 10 but for Poland's Agnieszka Radwanska, previously ranked 14, who climbed above her after reaching the quarter-finals in Melbourne.

The pair will meet at the Federation Cup in Eilat later this week. The Polish delegation sent Agnieszka to the tournament following the withdrawal of her sister, Urszula (201), who withdrew through injury.

Julia Glushko, Israel's second player in the competition, has risen to a record high career ranking of 205 after reaching the second round of the Australian Open qualifiers.

Amir Weintraub has risen to a record high ranking of 268.
