Maccabi Tel Aviv have appointed Barcelona youth team coach Oscar Garcia as their new manager.

The club’s Canadian owner Mitch Goldhar decided to bring in a foreign manager after three disappointing seasons under Israeli coaches.

The move follows the appointment of Jordi Cruyff as general manager.

Garcia said: “I’m proud to join Maccabi Tel Aviv, a club with an amazing history.

"I expect to meet all the challenges facing us and am committed to doing the best I can to bring success to the club.”
