Olympic Games: Day 5 round-up

Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich were the stars of the show for Israel on Day 5 of the 2012 Olympic Games, while Lee Korzits impressed again in the windsurfing competition in Weymouth.

    WINDSURFING
Medal hopeful Lee Korzits finished Day Two of an eight-day Windsurfing competition in second place. Two more solid performances kept the Israeli in second place. The double world champion finished seventh in race three and second in race four respectively, building on first and third on Tuesday.

    GYMNASTICS
Israel's Alex Shalitov failed to impress in the Men's All-Round Individual final at the North Greenwich Arena.

He was never in medal contention after scoring 14.266 in the first round of and another solid, but safety first, routine on the rings failed to impress the judges as he slipped behind the field to lie 22nd after round two.

Lying 15th after three rounds, this was far from vintage Shalitov and he ruined a good performance on the parallel bars with an unbalanced finish, scoring 14.400.

The game was over as Shalitov registered 14.833 with just the floor routine left. After a solid routine, he finished with a score of 88.432 and 12th overall.

    SWIMMING
Yakov Toumarkin produced an enthralling performance to reach the final of the Men's 200m at the Aquatics Centre.

He equalled the Israeli record with a time of 1:57:33 to finish fourth in his semi-final.

Gal Nevo placed 10th in the Men's 200m individual medley in the semi-finals. He finished in 1:59:15, slightly faster than his heat (1:59.56).

    TENNIS
Andy Ram and Jonathan Erlich booked their place in the third round of the men's doubles after launching a stirring fightback to defeat defending champions Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland.

The Israeli pair dropped the first set 6-1 before clinching the second set tie-break. Ram and Erlich then held their nerve to take the deciding set 6-3 and leave the Swiss shellshocked.
