Northern Team of the Season

articlemain

AFC Flixton and Maccabi Manchester 2nd took the honours in Manchester this season, while South Manchester Sports Club 1st failed at the final hurdle.

Led by the dream team of Stuart Delmonte and Tony Rosenberg, Flixton capped a memorable first season in non-Jewish football by clinching the league and cup double.

The silverware also flowed for Maccabi, with boss Irving Modlin blending youth and experience perfectly.

ALEX DAVIES (South Manchester) - The 16-year-old was thrown in at the deep end, he has shown maturity beyond his years and been a consistent performer throughout.

MARK BROADE (Heaton Park) - A bundle of energy with an end product, so no real surprise HPR have already issued a hands-off warning to clubs.

NICK YARDLEY (Maccabi Manchester) – Led by example as the captain, won the Player of the Year gong – a decade on from his previous triumph.

MARK BELL (AFC Flixton) – Marshalled a double-winning AFC Flixton defence who had their fair share of shut-outs.

ADAM TAUBER (AFC Flixton) – Formed a fine partnership with Bell in a team that conceded a miserly 18 goals in 33 games.

TOBY LEVY (South Manchester) - returned to the club followed a spell down south and has been brilliant throughout. His pace and finishing and have caused opposition problems throughout the season.

DAN MARGOLIS (Maccabi Manchester) – The youngster never shirked a challenge after catching the eye in the men’s league.

MARK KORN (Leeds Maccabi 2nds) – An 11-goal haul from midfield and countless man-of-the-match awards were evidence of his contribution.

ADAM SHIFFMAN (Haroldeans) – The Young Player of the Year would have been vying for the golden boot if his five goals against the now defunct FC Cosmos had not been expunged.

JON FRANKS (Heaton Park Rovers) – The league’s top-scorer rescued HPR on several occasions – and proved a headache for all defences.

JONATHAN GOLDSTONE (Leeds Maccabi) – Prolific finisher with 25 goals and led the line with success for the Yorkshiremen
