Myers targets top three finish in junior futsal

articlemain

Laurence Myers is targeting a medal after naming his Team GB Junior Futsal to compete at next summer’s Maccabiah Games.

Manager Myers will be looking to improve on the last performance of a GB under-16 team who finished in fifth place at the 2009 event in Israel.

Following a series of trials, Myers and his assistant, Scott Warren, have selected an 11-man squad.

"Both Scott and I are very excited about the journey ahead," said Myers. "We feel we have assembled a very strong squad who are more than capable of bringing home a medal.

"We will be working very hard over the next 10 months to make sure the squad is as well prepared as possible and hope to give all the boys the experience of a lifetime.

"Although the lads are young, compared to other age groups, it is a fantastic opportunity for them to represent their country and have that link between themselves and Israel, which will hopefully be a memorable one."

Squad:
Josh Tray
David Flax
Mikey Kaye
Jordan Grundman
Danny Stapleton
Nathan Schindler
Danny Shina
Sam Hatton
Sam Belchak
Jonah Gordon-Boyd
Dean Benzaken
Non-travelling reserve: Nathan Orr
Manager: Laurence Myers
Assistant-manager: Scott Warren
