More misery for Bykanov

articlemain

Vladislav Bykanov has also missed out on a place in the semi-finals of the 1,000m short-track speed skating competition after finishing third in his heat.

As in the 1,500 meters, the Ukrainian-born Israeli led in the early part of the race before slipping back and finishing in 1 mins 26.5 secs.

Bykanov will also race in the 500 meters next Tuesday, his strongest distance.

There was disappointment for Andrea Davidovich and Evgeni Krasnopolski in the final of the free skating pairs competition. They finished in 15th position after dropping points following a fall from Davidovich.

Elsewhere in Sochi, Arielle Gold, 17, was forced out of the Snowboard halfpipe event through injury, while brother, Taylor, 21, bowed out of the Men’s event in the semi-finals.
