Mond puts best foot forward

Amanda Mond qualified for the British Youth Championships after finishing third at the under-12 London tournament.

Mond, who is 11 and lives in north London, has collected a number of medals since she began competing two years ago and she is now one of the leading foil fencers for her age group in the country.

Her father, Gary, is a former national champion and ex-international butterfly swimmer, while mum Robyn, who is from New York, is a former Long Island ice skating champion.
