Mcleod on the move to Blancos

articlemain

Norstar London Raiders have agreed a deal with Los Blancos to enable Zak Mcleod to join the club he scored against on Sunday.

The 24-year-old leaves almost four-years to the day after signing for Norstar in which time he helped the club secure promotion to the Premier Division. In total he made 59 appearances, nine as substitute, scoring 11 goals including the winner in this season’s 3-2 at Oakwood.

Speaking about the attacking-midfielder's departure today, Phil Peters said: "I and everyone at Norstar London Raiders have massive respect for Zak and his big talent, and when he told us of his wish to move on because he wanted to play more, we did not want to deny him this opportunity.

"We want him to be successful in his career despite the fact that this transfer makes no financial sense to us at Raiders.

"We are pleased Zak will stay in England – even with a rival club. He is following in the footsteps of great Norstar and Raiders players like Josh and Jono Gaon and Nick Grosse who made the same move in recent times. He is happy in this country and it is good that Jewish football retains such a talented player.

"Zak moves with our full blessing and I can speak on behalf of everyone at the club in thanking him for his fantastic service, and wishing him well for his future."

Mcleod moved to Norstar from Montana Boca United in February 2010, taking the number 15 shirt and was a key factor in the club’s promotion from Division Three in that season.

Zak contributed significantly as Norstar gained successive promotions from Division Three to the Premier Division over the course of three seasons and despite a short loan-spell at Zenit St Whetstone returned to score a famous winner in a 3-2 win against Woodford Wanderers. Only last weekend he scored the killer third goal that secured Raiders’ victory against his new side in the Cyril Anekstein Cup.

Raiders have a buy-back clause that can be activated at the end of this season.
