Manchester Vets retain title

Manchester Maccabi claimed the MJSL Veterans Challenge Trophy after blowing away the opposition in rampant fashion.

In a three-team tournament, which also included Leeds Maccabi and Sedgley Park Celtic, Manchester won both its group games before easing to victory in the final.

After defeating both Leeds and Sedgley Park in the round robin, Manchester started the final as favourites.

And despite Sedgley Park starting in promising fashion, they had little answer to the Manchester’s attacking prowess.

Rafi Bloom’s fine 20-yard drive gave Manchester the lead, before Mike Sheldon doubled his side’s advantage before the break.

Captain Andy Hatton added some extra gloss to the scorline with a third after the interval as Manchester retained their title.
