MAL and BECC clinch promotion

articlemain

The gods were smiling on MAL 1st and Belmont & Edgware 1st last weekend as both teams celebrated promotion out of their respective Middlesex Sunday League divisions.

The rain helped MAL clinch back-to-back titles after their Division Two match against Finchley was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Mark Landau, the MAL vice-captain, said: "It has been a great year."

Four league victories were enough to take BECC up from Division Three as their clash against Kensington & Chelsea also fell victim to the weather.

"It was a terrific effort from all players involved," commented skipper Warren Averbuch. "Some keys performances combined with a real desire to win helped secure promotion."

The two teams will be looking to finish the season on a high at the Maccabi National Cup final on September. BECC will be looking to go one better after losing to London Maccabi Vale in last year's final. This season's showpiece takes place at London Colney CC in Shenley.
