Managed by Richard Baum and Scott Ansher, the squad will be looking to replicate the achievements of the 2013 Maccabiah side in bringing back the gold.

Baum and Ansher are no strangers to international games having represented GB at previous Maccabiah and European Maccabi Games. They will work with coach Jason Brissett who brings a professional background with him having been with a variety of English clubs.

On selecting the squad, Baum said: “We have a tough act to follow but we have assembled a group of players that we feel have the ability to perform at a good level and play an attractive brand of football.

"It is very promising for the future of Jewish football as the nucleus of this squad is made up of the gold-winning team from the 2015 JCC Maccabi Games.

"Our squad are fully aware that to represent Great Britain is a great honour and our training to date has proven very effective with the boys showing a great attitude and willingness to learn.”

Ansher commented: “The fighting spirit the boys are showing in training proves their determination to follow in the footsteps of the teams who have worn the Maccabi GB Star of David Union Jack before them.

"Our intentions are, of course, to be successful in terms of medals and we look forward to providing some entertainment along the way.

"Our ethos is to create a team ethic that embodies the Maccabiah spirit that will allow the boys to build good friendships along our journey.”
