Maccabi Masters review: September 15

articlemain

Jeremy Leigh scored for the second consecutive week as Waldaf Town drew 2-2 against early pace-setters Scrabble in Division One of the Maccabi Masters Football League.

Scrabble raced into a two-goal lead but Waldaf showed great character to level, with James Kaye ensuring the points were shared with a 20-yard thunderbolt.

Strikes from Kevin Lotzof, Wayne Davidson and Lloyd Becker earned North London Raiders an impressive 3-1 win over a new-look Brady Maccabi A. Adam Gishen replied from the penalty spot.

In Division Two, St John’s Wood Tigers kicked off their season with a thumping 6‐1 win over Glenthorne United B.

Gary Myers (3), Perry Somers (2) and Paul Herszaft did the damage, with Glenthorne’s consolation came from David Shone’s spot-kick.

EDRS Stonegrove also posted a win in their first match. They overcame Temple Fortune with doubles from Russell Rich and Marc Schneiderman. Allon Schick‐Maier and Jeremy Fess scored for Fortune.

Fortune manager David Goldberg said: "Despite the result, it was an enjoyable match and we battled well. EDRS were the better side, but we worked hard and kept in the game. I cannot fault the players when they give their all."
