Maccabi Masters review: November 20

articlemain

Leaders Brady Maccabi A extended their lead and made it seven wins out of seven after beating their closest rivals North London Raiders 4-2 in what Raiders manager Richard Sacks described as 'a pulsating encounter' in which his team squandered a number of good chances.

Brady's goals came from Laurence Myers, Laurence Beck, Scott Ansher and Mark Wagman.

Raiders replied courtesy of strikes from Wayne Davidson and Gavin Hodes, but the game was somewhat overshadowed by a spine injury to Brady's Laurence Beck.

Sacks said afterwards: "On behalf of everyone at our club, I wish him all the best for a speedy recovery, and we know he'll get the best treatment to get him up and playing again soon."

Meanwhile, two strikes from John Hirshler, along with effort from Marc Cohen, Jonny Mack and Joel Nathan scored to give Faithfold a 5-3 win over South Mancs.

Glenthorne United B made it seven wins in seven and moved back to the top of Division 2 after recording a 6-1 win over third-placed Brady Maccabi B.

Gary Swerner scored twice, with Adam Lennard, a Ray Russell penalty, Adam Hart and David Galman all on target.

Malcolm Hershman netted Brady's solitary consolation.

EDRS Stonegrove beat Marshside 5-1 thanks to Phil Silver's double, along with efforts from Tony Platman - from the penalty spot - Barry Abraham and Martin Seifert.

Marshside's late consolation came from guest Johnny Mansoor.
