articlemain

Glenthorne B came from behind to progress at the expense of Glenthorne C in the Nathan Horwitz MMFL Division 2 Cup, thanks to two goals from Gary Adams.

Early on an upset looked on the cards when Howard Wallis gave the C-team a shock lead

London Maccabi Lions also eased through with a 4-1 win over Brady B. Darren Coon set Lions on their way with a goal inside the first minute, but Brady equalised through Danny Collins.

David Kyte restored their lead after the break with a 25-yard strike, and two late goals from David Price ensured Lions’ safe passage to the semis.

Joining them in the last four are Temple Fortune who overcame Marshside, courtesy of goals from James Ryan (2), Jeremy Fess and Phil Bloomberg.

David Hyman and Fara Moghim scored for Marshside.

Fortune manager David Goldberg said: "We played really well. We battled hard and it was a very good performance.

"Again we gave away two poor goals but the team got what they deserved thanks to their effort."

There was no let-up from champions Brady A as they demolished South Mancs 8-1 with Mark Wagman (2), Gideon Barnett (2), Adam Gishen (2) and a pair of own goals in Division One. Joel Nathan grabbed Mancs’ consolation.
