Maccabi Masters review: January 22

articlemain

Temple Fortune B claimed one of the results of the day in the Maccabi Masters League with a goal from James Ryan enough to see off EDRS Stonegrove.

The Fortune defence stood firm in a battling display to record a famous and rare victory over one of the division's leading teams.

Manager David Goldberg, who hasn't had much to cheer about this season with the Old Boys, was delighted and commented: "It was a fantastic team performance and everybody played their part. Credit must go to the whole team for an outstanding performance."

Brady B returned to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Marshside inspired by two goals from Malcolm Hershman - a free-kick and a penalty - and one from Martin Schultz. Brady goalkeeper Adam Meranda then ensured that the points were safe when he kept out a Mark Rose penalty.

The Marshside goal was scored by David Hyman, with an individual effort.

Hendon overcame Glenthorne C 3-1 thanks to goals from Johnny Mansoor, an own goal and a strike from Andrew Cohen.

In Division One, second-placed Glenthorne A consolidated their position with a narrow 4-3 win over their nearest rivals North London Raiders thanks to goals from David Michaels, Paul Allen, Darren Young and Adam Kaye. Ashley Davidson's penalty, Lloyd Becker and Darren Cohen replied for Raiders.

Faithfold thumped South Mancs 4-1 thanks to a double from John Hirshler, plus strikes from Jonny Mack and Jason Levy. New boy Ben Kent scored on his debut for South Mancs.
