DC PLAYER RATINGS

BARNES LATE SHOW SEALS LIONS CUP WIN

CUP FINAL PHOTOS

Matt Davis - the experienced stopper put in a typically composed performance. He had no chance with either goal but showed good handling, dominated his box and kicked well throughout. DC Rating: 8/10

Jonny Ellis - ‘Mad Dog’ had a shocker in the first 45 – his touch and his passing were poor - but he improved in the second half. Letchworth attacked with menace in the second 45 but Ellis used his strength and experience to ensure that Lions finished on top. 7/10

Adam Myeroff - Mr Reliable, along with his fellow back four, looked far from comfortable in the first 45 as Letchworth had plenty of joy down the middle. But the second half was a different story after he produced some heroic blocks and won some big headers as Lions struck gold. 8/10

Guy Morris - Captain marvel improved as the game wore on. Lions looked surprisingly disjointed at the back but Morris added another piece of silverware to his trophy cabinet with a towering second half. 7/10

Aron Barnes - started the game at left-back and finished it in left-mid. He provided a good outlet, getting up and down the flanks well and popped up with a last-minute winner. 8/10

Craig Ellis - Ellis worked his socks off to ensure that Daniel Stanton saw plenty of the ball. Played a key role to ensure that the Lions were not outmuscled in a busy midfield engine room. Booked. 7/10

Daniel Stanton - an uncharacteristic first 45 saw him concede possession on numerous occasions. But he picked up in the second half and had a hand in the winner. 7/10

Ben Lauffer - opened the scoring with a cool finish to cap a solid performance. One of the unsung heroes of the team but clearly also one of the most hard-working. 7/10

Matt Stock - the Lions struggled to get Stock into the game in the first half but he worked hard and made some vital interceptions. He upped his game in the second half with two brilliant runs. Failed to make the final whistle due to injury. 7/10

TJ Keterman - had his night cut short by injury. Worked hard for 33 minutes. 7/10

James Gershfield - Lions’ best player on the night. Put the team 2-1 up with a low free-kick through the wall. Missed chances in both halves but showed great awareness to tee up Barnes for the late winner. 8/10
