Lipman crowned Player of the Season

Josh Lipman was crowned JC MSFL Player of the Season on Monday night.

The Hendon United Sports Club A central defender capped an excellent season by winning the top individual award at the end of season ceremony in Edgware.

Lipman was voted the stand-out performer in a season where Hendon clinched the treble.

Speaking shortly after receiving the accolade, a delighted Lipman told JC Sport: "It's a fantastic honour to be named the top player in the MSFL, but I couldn't have done it without my teammates. It means so much to be recognised by my peers and managers of other teams.

"I'm honoured to play with great teammates every week. This award is a reflection of the team, through from goalkeeper Russell Corin to the other defenders, midfielders and strikers.

"I've grown more into the centre back role this season and relish playing in a team with players from the same community, who have grown up together.

"We played great football week in, week out and never gave up. We had a great team spirit."

Lipman also paid tribute to teammate Greg Corin, another candidate for the top player prize. "Greg pulled a real rabbit out of the hat in the Anekstein Cup semi-final against Raiders. He played fantastically well this year."

He also took time out to praise his manager, David Garbacz. "Credit to David who has done a fantastic job keeping everyone happy in the squad.

"He made a few good signings which really made a difference. Motti [Colman], Ben [Lauffer] and Danny [Kon] gave us a real cutting edge and gelled immediately."

Asked how the team aims to improve on this season's achievements, Lipman had a warning for Hendon's rivals. "The aim is to do it all over again. We'll start pre-season training soon and hope to carry on where we left off.

"It will be really hard as we know other teams will raise their game and that will be the measure of us."

Hendon boss David Garbacz was the obvious choice for Team Manager of the Year, while there was something of a surprise in the Young Player category with Brady Maccabi B wonder kid Reiss Mogilner claiming the prize.

Oakwood defender Ilan Scorah was named star man in Division One, while London Maccabi Lions B hotshot James Gold was the top performer in Division Two.

There was double delight for Glenthorne United B joint-player-manager Craig Sandford who scooped the Golden Boot and Division Three Player of the Year.

Brady Maccabi B captain James Joseph made it a win double for the club after receiving the top player award in Division Four.

Ed Bloom, who joined FC Team A from Neasden C during the season, was named Top Goalkeeper.

There was also joy for North London Raiders B who won the Ron Saunders Trophy for Sportsmanship/Turnout, while Jewventus manager Gabriel John marked 19 years in the Maccabi League by winning the Team Secretary Trophy.

Andy Myerson collected the Best Referee trophy, while Brandon Pieters received Best Newcomer Referee.
