Lions U11 win Watford title

articlemain

London Maccabi Lions Under 11s have won the Watford Friendly League White Division title.

The Lions finished the season with the meanest defensive record in the League, conceding just 22 goals in 18 games including eight clean sheets.

Manager Darren Dryer commented that the boys' success was down to "a never-say-die attitude allied to having some very talented young footballers".

He said that the team "would now be concentrating on competing at the highest level in the Premier Division next season".

Goals Dan Reuben and Jack Reece helped London Maccabi Lions Under 13s lift the Maccabi GB National Phil Spanjer Under 13's Cup final with a 2-1 win over Manchester Maccabi at Wingate & Finchley.

Lions Under 16s finished runners-up in the WFL Red Division. They missed out on top spot by a single point.

Co-manager Nicky Bloom said: "The boys far exceeded our expectations this season, and to come so close to winning the title bodes very well for the next generation of footballers for the senior section of the club. We have a two-year plan in place with the aim of winning the Under 18's title with this squad in two years time."
