Ian Selwyn has warned his Leeds Maccabi 1st players not to get carried away after moving to within touching distance of the Sunday Alliance League title.
Maccabi can win the championship with victory over Real Porto in their final game on May 12 – although they could be handed the crown sooner if other results go their way.
A 6-2 victory over Real helped Leeds move four points clear of the summit, with nearest challengers and defending champions New Unicorn four points adrift with two games in hand.
But after watching David Woolman hit four goals in his side’s latest triumph, Selwyn is hoping his players have one big performance left as the season reaches its climax.
“I couldn't ask any more from my players,” said Selwyn.
“They all want this so badly and I think that came across in the performance.
“It's a pleasure to work with this group of boys and it's great when people can come in and play in different positions and do a fantastic job for the team.
“The lads know what this means for Jewish football in the community but realise that it is far from over.
“We now have a two week break to prepare for what could be a career defining game.
“For the moment we'll enjoy this victory, but there is still work to be done."
Following last Thursday’s 3-2 win over Real, Leeds faced the same opponents in a game which would allow them to move four points clear at the top with victory.
Bolstered by the returning Woolman, who had enjoyed a successful spell at MSFL side Oakwood A, Leeds tore into the visitors from the very start.
Real, who had previously defeated New Unicorn, failed to deal with a Daniel Seligman free kick and Woolman slammed home from close range.
Buoyed by the early goal, Maccabi piled on the pressure and Woolman grabbed his second of the game with a neat finish.
Selwyn’s side continued to dominate and Nick Vale should have added a third after latching onto Seligman’s through ball, but he could only poke his shot wide of the target.
That miss appeared to prove costly right at the end of the first half when the visitors scrambled home following a free kick.
Despite the setback, Maccabi refused to buckle and burst out of the traps as they produced a scintillating second half showing.
Adam Gilman, outstanding at the heart of the Leeds midfield, terrorised the Real defence and his through ball allowed Woolman to charge through to net his hat-trick.
Vale added a fourth after a neat flowing move involving Tim Zoltie and the influential Seligman, before Gilman headed home his side’s fifth.
Real pulled a goal back as they pushed forward in desperation, but Woolman ended any faint hopes of a comeback when he raced through to notch his fourth and push Leeds ever closer to the title.
